Database grouping

Group your database by some column, build reports, save to views, customize and integrate grouped views to your web pages using easy to use UI

MyTaskHelper web database is being constantly developed. This fact is proved by a regular addition of new possibilities and useful functions. And the opportunity of database records grouping has become one of such innovations.

 

The grouping function is used in cases when it is necessary to unite several records connected with each other on the basis of some common feature (as a rule, it’s a field).

 

Let’s consider a particular example to get acquainted with the mentioned function better. There is a database which contains records about the clients and goods they purchase. In case all the data couples client – order are different, there is no need for grouping, but, as a rule, one client can purchase or order several products, and in this situation it would be more visible and acceptable to have grouping. Beside visualization, such a representation of the database will make it possible to keep records and analyze data faster. In order to use grouping it is necessary to do the following actions:

 

- Go to “Records” section;

 

- Choose the necessary form in the list;

 

- Click on “Grouping” link;

 

- In the opened window tick off the fields to which this operation should be applied;

 

- In case of necessity, indicate the order according to which the operations will be performed (ascending or descending).

 

As a result we get a table in which the data is reflected in such a way that the clients who purchase some particular type of goods, are placed in a separate group. It is not difficult at all to make reverse settings – to reflect the grouped goods ordered by one client.

 

The possibilities of MyTaskHelper form maker make it also possible to realize grouping in relation to several fields. It will allow, for example, arranging the records which belong to one product demonstrably according to different colours or some other secondary characteristics. Or there is another variant of using several levels of the considered function application – grouping of goods items which relate to different clients according to the price brackets with indication of goods in every bracket.

 

When the form with grouping parameters is reflected, one can easily change the order of fields’ sequence. One just has to drag and pull the necessary field to the needed position with the help of a mouse.
