All QuintaDB form field (or data column) types

QuintaDB allows to add all QuintaDB field types and even advanced fields, like Image, File or Formula fields. Each of them has many additional customized options which you can use in your database

Using QuintaDB you can create any web form with different fields types. In this blog post you will find a description of all available field types.

All fields are sorted by four types: Standard fields, Advanced, Dividers, Login Query Engine.

See below to learn how to add a new field to the web form. You just need to enter a field name and select a field type from the list. You can always change a field type and a field name on Edit field page.

Standard fields

Single line

In this field you can enter a text in one line. This field type is used to input short text messages.

Multiple line

This field type is used to input a long text in a multiple line without any limits.

Number

 This is a numeric field type. Please, notice that it is used only to enter numbers.

Decimal

Decimal field type is similar to the Number field, the Decimal field also accepts decimal numbers.

Drop Down

 Using a Drop Down field type you can select one item from the list. By default the first item is selected.

Question: What is your favorite football team?

Drop down list:

  • MU 
  • Arsenal 
  • Chelsea

By deafult MU will be selected.

Radio Button

Radio Button (Multiple Choice). User can select only one element from the box.

For example:

Question: Do you like this web service?

Radio Button box: 

  • Yes
  • No
  • I don't know

 

CheckBox

User can select one item from the box, all items or nothing.

Confirmation Checkbox

This field allows to add user's agreement to the form, mandatory for confirmation.

For example, "I accept the terms of the user agreement and agree to the processing of personal data." Also, the text of the user's agreement can be replace to link, which lead to the page with this agreement.

Date

Using pop up calendar and your mouse you can easily select a needed date. Date format always can be changed. 

Date & Time

Using pop up calendar and your mouse you can easily select a needed time. Time format always can be changed. 

Time

Use Time field to let the users enter a time (hours, minutes, seconds).

File upload


Using this field type you can upload a form file of any size or type into the web. By default attached file limit is 10 MB. You can always change it. Please read about File Upload type validation.

Email

This field allows to enter users a valid email address. 

Phone

Using Phone field you will be able to collect contact information to interact with customers and make SMS-newsletter.

You can customize specific input type for telephone numbers for more convenient data processing.

URL

This field allows to enter users the link to a website or web page.

 

Advanced

Image

Using this field type you can upload a form image of any size or type to the web. By default attached image limit is 10 MB. You can always change it. Please read about File Upload type validation.

 

Image field options:

- You can set a limit for each file upload;

- You can select file types from a list of file extensions you would like to allow for upload;

- Url options (when you click on image):

                  - Open Full size Image in a new window;

                  - Open Record Widget;

                  - Do nothing;

                  - Open URL located in URL field (single line field type with URL validation required);

- Default Image size (width, height).

 

Formula

Formula field type is used to add, subtract, multiply, divide the  fields value.

Signature

Using Signature field, users can draw a signature and save it as an image in the database

Birthday

Used for birthday date input. You can see user's age in the spreadsheed.

Boolean

It's a logical type. You can select only yes/no.

Language

It's a drop down list of language names. You can use this list composed by QuintaDB or create  your own. Use a drop down field type to create a language list.

U.S. States

It's a drop down list of U.S. States names. You can use this list composed by QuintaDB or create  your own. Use a drop down field type to create a U.S. States list.

Country

It's a drop down list of country names. You can use this list composed by QuintaDB or create  your own. Use a drop down field type to create a country list.

Time Zone

It's a drop down list of time zone names. You can use this list composed by QuintaDB or create your own. Use a drop down field type to create a time zone list.

Matrix

The Matrix field can be added to web-form to provide set of cells. It's like editable HTML table control for your online database.

Autoincrement

This field type is an addition to the existing fields in the spreadsheet. The autoincrement field value is generated automatically. You can change the initial value and step.

In QuintaDB the autoincrement field - is the numeric field in which you can enter the value of the increasing numerical sequence.

Location

Using this field you can collect coordinates in 'latitude, longitude' format.

Relationship

Use Relationship field to link tables in QuintaDB

Subform

A Subform field allow to insert one form to another.

 

Dividers

Text, HTML and JavaScript

Using this field type you can embed any text into the form.


Section heading

This field used to add a title to a group of fields.

Page break

This field adds a page break on the form.

Is it possible to have a field type which defaults to being equal to another field unless there is a specific entry. This would apply to something like a preferred email address, where the official address needs to remain the the record, but a preferred email address could be substituted for use with newsletters.


Is it possible to have a field type which is “equal to field ____ in form ___”

Is it better to use a relationship?

Hi!

You can try to use Formula for this. But you need to link your forms using Relationships first. This way you’ll be able to use related form fields in your Formula column.

So you can use formula like this: “Related column” + “Column with blank values”.
