What is a Dashboard?
The Dashboard creation
Widgets

You can create one or many Portals for each application on the QuintaDB service.
You can add a Dashboard page to the Portal. A dashboard is a data visualization page that renders widgets in real time, which the portal's owner and users can track certain metrics, such as a chart, newsletters, calendars and else.

First you need to Create an application. You can do this in any way convenient for you: create from scratch, import a database from Excel or CSV, and use an application template.

Let's create a "Sales Management" application. This app has already created Forms, Tables, Reports and Several charts. (This application is available as a template on the 'Create an Application' page).

The Dashboard creation

A portal is created with the application by default. Click on the "Open portal" link.

If you want to add a Dashboard to your portal, click on the "Portal" menu and select "Menu".

Here you can customize the Portal's menu and enable the Dashboard for the portal.

After adding the Dashboard to the portal, you will be taken to the Dashboard creating page.

In the 'Settings' section you can choose a Dashboard theme. The order, size and position of blocks for widgets on the Dashboard depends on the choice of theme.

dashboard themes

The list of available themes will be regularly updated, so stay tuned and subscribe to the newsletter on the "Settings" page, "Account" menu. Besides choosing a theme, you can also use your own HTML page. For example, if you want to create a landing page for your Portal.

You can choose:a title, an icon, a color scheme for your Dashboard from the list. And also, specify your own color using the palette.

Customize dashboard

Activate the Automatic update option and specify the time if you want the dashboard to update automatically. This can be handy if you are displaying a dashboard on a separate screen and keep track of any changes.

Automatic update

Do not forget to click on the "Update" button to save all changes. You can change these settings at any time.

Widgets

Now you can add the widgets to your Dashboard. To do this, select the block and click on the plus sign (+).

On the next page, you can specify a title and an icon for the widget. And choose one of the available Dashboard widgets.

Let's take a closer look at each of them:

Records count - this widget displays the number of records in the specified table or report.

An example: "Apartments for Rent" application dashboard:

Total and Average - displays the total and average of the Table or Report.

An example: "Expenses" application dashboard:

Number of Submitted and Updated records in the last 24 hours - displays the number of new and updated records in the Table or Report.

An example: "Support Center" application dashboard:

Growth (by table or report) - this widget shows an increase in indicators as a percentage.

You must select a table or report and a column with data. Next, you need to select the column that contains the date or time and select the period for comparison.

Also, the following options are available: Show comparison period, Show current value, Show currency

Growth (by dashboard widgets) - performs the same function as the previous widget, but this time data from widgets on the dashboard are used for comparison.

An example: "Expenses" application dashboard:

Chart - adds diagrams and charts to the Dashboard. It uses the settings specified in the Charts module.

You can specify dimensions or use the widget's size from the Chart widget settings (by default).

An example: "Sales Management" application dashboard:

An example: "Events" application dashboard:

Table or Report - shows the Table/Report widget on the Dashboard. The design and functionality of the widget can be customized in the "Table / Report Widget" menu.

It is possible to specify the size or use the sizes from the widget settings.

An example:"Pizza Order" application dashboard:

Total storage - displays statistics of the files usage from the Files module. Example:

Users count - displays the number of registered users in the portal.

Form - shows the Forms widget on the Dashboard. The design and functionality of the widget can be customized in the Form Widget menu.

An example of a Form widget on the "Events" application dashboard:

HTML page - allows you to add your own html page to the Dashboard. For example, it can be Banner Ad or third-party widgets.

If you do not have created pages in the portal yet, then you need to create a new one.

All of the examples shown above are available as application templates and are ready to use.

The dashboard helps to collect and visualize data on one screen, which speeds up data analysis and greatly simplifies all business processes.

You can change the Dashboard settings at any time. To do this, go to the "Portal" - "Dashboard" menu (available if the dashboard is enabled for the portal).

Use the context menu (three dots) to edit the widget block in the Dashboard menu:

Or on the Portal page:
