First Field in a Table

Is there anyway I can see the first field (in my case the name) as a scroll across the screen? As I scroll right, I cannot not see whose record I am on. Sorry for so many questions tonight…I’m trying to figure out how to easily edit records without going into each record.

How do I hide and/or re-order the columns that appear on the Records screen for a form?

I have tried modifying the checkbox options in both Form Settings —> Fields and Table Settings —> Columns but none of my changes are reflected anywhere.

As an example, I would like to hide the Salutation field on the Contact form from the Records view for the form (https://mytaskhelper.com/apps/baW6lcImnhfOo8W6FdSrSK/dtypes/entity/chW7ddLmniW7PZsmkrW4m2).

Please advise.

Possible to link fields from multiple forms into a single report?

Is it possible to pull fields from more than 1 form into a single report? Specifically…

I have a form called Owners and a second form called Pets. I had them linked. Each owner can have 1 or more pets but every pet has only 1 owner. I want to create a report that lists Owners and their Pets. It might look something like this:

John Smith
Fido
Rover
Spot
Mary Jones
Fluffy
Sam Spade
Ringo
Paul
John
George

When I try to create a Report, I can select any column from the Owners form but none from the linked form, Pets.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have noticed that the relationship features you MTH are only meant to “populate” fields. There should be a way to do QUERIES in order to process many fields of the row at the same time, like product and price. The “calculation field” that you suggest only concatenate and is not possible to process the numbers.

Also is there a way to customized POST and GET values between reports?

Eg. Patience in hospital has many visits to doctor, the idea is connect “patience table” with “visits table” and “doctors table” using foreign and primary keys.

Anyone Able To Help Me Build an MTH Databse

I think that MTH will be able to do most of what I am looking for but, whilst it may be an easy interface for people with more technical skills than me, I am finding it quite difficult without a tutorial that shows you how to get started and what each of the choices in the fields options and advanced options do! I have no idea what ‘Validate on submit’ means or ‘FORMAT (REGULAR EXPRESSION’ means or what to use it for.

I am enjoying learning but I need to get my project up and running. Is there anyone that can help me put this together? I need help to create the user accounts, front interface and various reports etc.

This is probably dead easy for someone with experience of the software but for me, I think it is going to take too long to learn each part to be able to make it work.

Admin allocates to a manager who then begins process and checks
Manager, on completion of checks, books a survey and allocates to the surveyor

The agent can only see progress of his leads
Agent and manager can see all leads.

Surveyors can only see their leads
Installers only see their own installs

Location in form

Hi Igor,

Is there a way to have a Location option in the form where the user can share his location from a single button click?

I know there’s a location field that displays latitude and longitude, but I’m embedding the form into a mobile application, and have a javascript where the user can click a button to get his exact coordinates. I’m trying to parse this data into the form, the only way is to copy / paste.

I thought maybe there’s an option or feature where users can use the MTH form to submit their location into the form and retrieve it in the record page?

Android app integration

Hello, Kari.

Is there a way I can link up my data base info, at least a couple of fields in the Android app? I downloaded the app to my phone, but the only choice seemed to be starting whole new database rather than integrating the existing database in my account.

Although the database entries will be done on my laptop, I was wondering if there was some way to access even just names and phone #s, or something like that, on my phone?

Field editing

Login in an update form

Hello,

I reach out to you once again to see if you could help me with an issue. I’m trying to validate a user before he could update a record in a form. Let me explain myself I’m creating a sort of workflow in wich users register services request, and vendors place bids for their services. In order to do this I created a table for the Services and one for the Vendors so they registre themselves.

I created a form in a report in wich Vendors can only update a field called Bid (wich is the amount for completign the service) and then the user can accept the service or not. The problem is that I need the vendor information to be registred in this report but this must be validated (probably with a Login form) but I don’t know how to link this to forms.

In a simple way, I want to make a user Log In before they can update a record form another table, and also in this table to keep registred who updated it last.

I’m having a hard time trying to explain what I need so if you have further question in this case, please contact me.

than made copies and trraslated into 3 other languages.

I have noticed that this week, some fields have disappeared in all languages at the same time.

Form entry drop downs width is small

When we create a new entry in the Corrective Action form the drop down fields width are not set properly. The field is too narrow only showing the first few characters. I attached an image of the issue.

I’ve tried sending out a test-newsletter but it did not arrive. Am I cleared to be able to send such a newsletter or is there still something I’m supposed to do before I can do this?

Secondly, I also have troubles importing CSV-files. All info of the record is put into one field per record.
When importing, I am also used to seeing the ability to link certain category names from one file to categories of the other.
Obviously, I don’t understand you’re approach to this and look forward to learning more about this.

This post will show you how to create multiple fields on multiple lines using the CSS class name feature.

In this example I used a “fourcolumn” CSS. (Notice no hyphen. This will be explained in the “Reducing gap when using CSS class name” post).


In the fifth field I did NOT set a CSS class name, and then for Field 6 and 7 I added a different class name “1234”. This placed the following fields beside field 5.

To create an URL field you just need to add field with URL field type.

Done! Now you can go ahead and add the link, URL will be validated and on your Records page it will appear as a link.


Please, notice, that if your link points to an image it will be automatically rendered and shown inside your table.


Also for the url field you can use the following options:


- URL text;
- URL target (blank, self, parent, top);
- If URL you have added to the field points to an image, you can choose how it should look like: custom url text or image.


You can show URL without a title. Just leave the URL text field blank.

Field data results dependent on previous field data selection?

I’m not sure if I just haven’t found where to do this or if there is no such functionality, but I want to be able to do the following:

• Have data in a database that is linked to my website

• Have a form on the website that has several dropdown boxes, the content in each box comes from the fields in my database.

(my current project at MTH is a sample list of bars/ restaurants in my city. Let’s say one drop down list has ‘Cuisine’ type, other has ‘location’, and other may have ‘$ per meal’, etc etc)

Dependent on the selection of the 1st drop down box i.e.cuisine, only the locations which have a bar or restaurant with that particular type of cuisine will be available to be picked in the ‘location’ drop down box.

I thought this would be a validation type, so that I first create one drop down box, then create a second box in the same form, and I use a validation rule that tells us that it only shows certain field data dependent on what was selected in the previous drop down list.

I hope this makes sense!

This way, the search will basically narrow itself down, so that the visitor could select precisely what he is looking for.

Team records can be filtered by a user. For instance students added by each user can only be seen by that user (and the administrator in records). But if records are accessed in a relationship drop-down those records are not and cannot be filtered so that the logged in user can only select from their “added by” students. Is this correct?

I have a main Form (Identifica) to which I have created relationships one-to-many to all the rest of the secondary forms in the same project.
Actually in Identifica (Fields) I only can see one of the Relationships that I did (Emergencia). Where are the rest?

Now, our actual idea is simple.
It is intended for emergencies information in a non-profit association (http://centroarrupevalencia.org/).

Two situations:
1 – One patient, from Form Identifica, choses a User and Password and then he can enter and modify records related to him:
a) One record in the main form (Identifica)
b) Several records in each of the rest of the tables, related to the main by same User and Password.
2 – Any visitor can view (not enter neither modify) all records of a user just entering the User (no password) of the patient.

link between two forms

Hi I would like to use one form of approx 15 fields.
Through reports I will have them filled in by several users. (commercial people)


I would like to create a second form that is containing approx 25 fields.
15 of these fields would be identical to the ones in the first form.
10 would be extra, reserved to R&D people who can tha add the information in the extra field for that specific record.


How can I create a link to have all the records of the first form in the second form.

If this works. I will be a big fan of your system !

Bug between my records

I am cleaning the data that I imported and I have discovered that several of the records are connected to each other and when I choose “select theater” for one, it changes the other. This is all in the Production Form. One of the entries for 16th Street Theatre is linked to one of the entries for Cabrini Repertory Theater. Another 16th Street is linked to Cafe de la Gare. There are two Cherry Lane Theatre entries that are linked, one to the Cleveland Public, another to Company One.

Please tell me how I can unlink these.

I am struggling to figure this out during my trial. I have business clients that make purchases from multiple vendors. At the end of the year I get a spreadsheet from each of the vendors showing of how much each of my clients spent with each vendor. It basically has the client name and their purchase total. So I want to be able to upload the vendor spreadsheet and in turn the client database show the client’s name and how much they purchased from each vendor based on the data that is in each of the vendor reports. So for example if I have ten clients and each purchase from apple, microsoft, and google…the record would show the following columns…client name, their microsoft purchase amount(from the microsoft uploaded spreadsheet), their apple purchase amoutn(from uploaded apple spreadsheet, their microsoft purchases.. etc.

Editing long content in in-line editing popup

When I click a cell to open the in-line editing popup dialog with long content, its ‘tail’ is ‘ellipsis-ed’. This is fine if I don’t submit changes to update the cell, but when I do, the ellipsis-ed content is lost permanently. As mentioned in an earlier email I would love to see Field Rules allow Formula fields to be included, the use of Relational Data allows a lot of information to be fed into a form before data entry takes place, this incoming data could be used in many ways to enhance whether data entry is allowed or not by the data entry form.
In the above form example I have hidden the display of Select Agent field based on whether the field contains data, the inclusion of formula fields for Field Rules would greatly enhance MTH in this regard.

Linked column order

Basically, the drop down box MTH provides for a relational field sorts the data into its own order depending on the content of the link field.
This disregards the sort order of the originating form.

Odd Change in Behaviour

I have created a form in which a representative has to fill in a field. This document will be mailed to the manager who will evaluate the application/request. If he decides to give it a ‘go’ by filling in/submitting a second field, the third person will be informed by mail. This person will complete the form with necessary data. In my example I have created three forms ( representative, manager and administration).

What people may see in the form:

representative ==> field 1
manager ==> field 1 and 2
administration ==> field 1 and 2 and 3

First I have created a form “administration” in which the three fields are available.
Secondly I have made a clone of form administration (name = “manager”), removed field 3. The data are submitted to form “administration”.
Finally I have made a clone of form manager (name=“representative”) and have removed field 2. The data are submitted to form “manager”.

I don’t know if this setup is allowed or is ok for use. It doesn’t work since it is not submitting data tot the main table (“administration”).

I find it strange that after setup I loose the possibility in the second table “manager” on advanced settings, it doesn’t react anymore.

Can I receive some help please?

Visibility of field

Trouble With Dynamic Form

On my form I have a drop down box with relationship of many and belongs to. Depending on the user selection in the drop down box I want to show another field in the form.

I have tried various field rule settings however it seems you cant start with the fields hidden until post a choice in the drop down box. Is this correct? I cant see anyway to do it.

I made a test form using your example and note Country is treated differently to my drop down box within the field rules system. I suspect this is the issue

Change form field type designation

It seems that when a field is created and allocated as a specific type and then subsequently changed to another type MTH appears to retain the previous settings and defaults for the previous field type. For example, field initially created as an image field with a default file and then changed to a single line text field with no defaults then the image default is written as text by MTH. Please check this for yourself but seems to be the case when I take this action.

Formula fields - images and record view mode

1. I created a formula using an image field + null image (empty) which computes correctly.



2. In widget view this displays correctly and the image location url is correct. All good so far.



3. In record view mode the MTH dynamic link works correctly. It does so by using the img src= syntax followed by an abbreviated url, for example; img src=‘/images/data/dcPmobW7LgW4BcI8o2W7b7/c4W4hdVSjisjfBW7LSgcjZ/agent-pic.png’ – this where the field inserted was |image link|



The above is OK in a limited way.
The problem is that it does not allow the image derived from the formula to be used in any practical way as it can not be opened by the href tag because the syntax img src= is built into the output from MTH into Record View mode.


This strange because as noted above the url location of the Widget view image is correctly output and displayed.


Is it not possible to output the whole url without the img src= prefix into the Record View? This way the user can decide how they will use the url output, for example img src=‘http://www.mytaskhelper.com/images etc etc’ or indeed href= “http://www.mytaskhelper.com/images etc etc” or both together to open an image link.


I have tried using java to unstring the syntax that MTH passes to Record View mode for a dynamic link. No success.


The project I am designing uses 4 MTH relationships where each database contains images of localities and properties. For example, in data entry the user selects a relational database that contains 10 images of a property, these are then passed to the master form using a formula. All works nicely.


But when the MTH dynamic link for the field passed in displayed in Record View it comes in with the the prefix of img src rather than the real url for the image, which is correctly shown in widget view.


This means that I either have to display small images in Record View mode that can not be opened using href and therefore useless or place all images in the master form, which is defeats the object of the design.

Formula and Date Issue

1) When adding a date field set to dd/mm/yyyy format into a formula the result always expresses as yyyy-mm-dd format – which is OK for the USA but for other countries is not friendly. I have tried various date formats to effect the result but always does the same.


2) When using a formula field to subtract dates, the math only works correctly if both dates are in the last half of the month.

Bug in Field Rules

I have come back to this very annoying bug. The form uses an intricate pattern of value to hide/reveal fields, which are themselves numerous. I have found that there must be a point where MTH is losing field rules, though I can not ascertain where or why this is.

Total Field

I would like my total field to be displayed and be able to move to other areas of the record view. EX: I move it from the bottom and want it under a certain field. Moving the total field within the form does not change the record view.

Bug in disabled dropdown field

It appears that is a Drop Down field is disabled, even though a default is set and validation is mandatory that the entire contents of the drop down selection list is written to the database record field. Works fine if field is not disabled.

Bug in Duplicate form field titles

I have not tested this through but it appears an old bug has returned;

1. Create a master form and database with default fields that will be changed in duplicated forms.
2. Duplicate the form and change the default fields.
3. Set the duplicated form to write data to the master form database in advanced settings.
4. Test the data entry of duplicated form and the master form form defaults are written, not the changed ones for the duplicated form.

Database Field Name

Perhaps there can be a difference between the “Common Field Name” (what people see on the form) and the “Database Field Name” (what is actually used on spreadsheet or relationships. For example, the common field name can be = Student Email and the database field name could = StuEmail. By default, it could equal the common field name and if someone want to change the database field name it can be done on the validation page.

A bug when using the formula field

There is a bug when using the formula field which is annoying. If the formula is used to concatenate text fields and the resulting length is too long the More… link shows in the database widget – this indicating the truncation of data rather all fields.


Also, the formula seems to have a nasty habit of adding more text fields than actually selected.

Website not showing in url column

Linking Fields and drop down menu from different form

Hi, I would like to enable a field, to choose options from a field in another form/table. I thought this could be done through relationships, but it seems not.

Eg, The field Car_colour from Car db, would be chosen come from colours table.

All the colours would appear as records in the colours table.

Then in the Car db, when you arrive at the Car_Colour field, a drop down list would appear with records from the colours table.

Please advise

Disabled Field - pushes down other Descriptions

When a field is disabled (e.g., “Status” in my Project), the Descriptions of all the fields that follow this one are “pushed down”, and, the Description of the disabled field still shows in the “add” mode, even though the field does not show.

Joins

The MAIN reason that I chose to use an online database was to be able to JOIN tables, in order to significantly reduce the redundancy of the legacy spreadsheet files.

I’m still having issues with joining tables in MTH for a 1-to-many relationship, and, I need your help for this, before I schedule a class for several others who need to learn how to use MTH.

I have tables that I want to JOIN, as follows (please help me do so ASAP):

1 Contact HAS ONE (or none) Tutoring Driver

1 Tutoring Driver HAS MANY Contacts


1 Contact HAS ONE (or none) Non-LCMS-Church

1 Non-LCMS-Church HAS MANY Contacts


1 Contact HAS MANY (or none, or one) Phone No.

1 Phone No. HAS MANY (or one) Contacts


1 Contact HAS MANY (or one) Languages

1 Language HAS MANY Contacts


Also, it’s important that any of these reference tables (Tutoring Driver, Non-LCMS-Church, Phone No., Language) may have mutliple fields that need to be shown, e.g., the Language Name & the “Native” Indicator, and the Phone No, & Phone Type. I need to add more tables that need to be joined with a 1-to-many and many-to-many relationship.

Also, when I export the “ContactInfo” Records, IF the “Contact to Phone” or the “Contact to Language” relationships were actaully a 1-to-many type, then how could this data be exported to 1 spreadsheet, e.g., a Contact with multiple Languages or Phones?

Can't be blank validation

It would be great to make simple tick-box on the Fields page for enabling/disabling ’Can’t be blank validation’.
Instead of opening Edit Field page, choosing ‘Validations’ option in ‘Settings’ dropdown.
Feature will be always visible and available with less amount of clicks.

I just went to field rules to add a field rule of:

If reading A is less than reading B then ask the user to redo readings as this is impossible

I realised I cant do this. It is critical to what I am setting up, and I am sure I wouldn’t be the only one needing a similar feature.

Enforce Entry in Relationship Fields

I note in forms, where I have a relationship entry the choices I have are to default to the first item on the relationship list or to leave it blank in which case the user can ignore the drop down box entirely.

Is there a way to force the user to select a value from the drop down box and not leave it blank? I can’t see any way to do this in field rules or in the rules?

It is currently not possible to Group or Filter by lookup column. It only shows relational column in Search.

Upload File Field Appearance

I was recently updating design of some of my tables and came across “file upload” field which is very useful. However, may I give a suggestion.

If you look at the database (that is aligned left) that contains “file upload” field type, once file uploaded, when you come back to the record in Edit mode the record looks bulky and ugly (sorry :) ), also takes lots of space !

Ideally the record should show up all in one line and also: a) have a space between file name and “delete” link (at the moment it looks like one link and confuses everyone); b) removed reminder of maximum file size (as an option maybe, since frequent users know it anyway and it also takes space) c) “Browse” button a bit smaller ideally d) ideally target to be selectable for when you press file link (at the moment it opens in the same frame, which is not convenient. ideally – new window)

Could something be done about it ?

Checkboxes and formula field

You need the option, when you enter the values for your check boxes, to specify whether they are all numeric or all text or a mixture of text and numerics.

At the moment it does not appear that you can use check boxes if you wish to perform a numerical calculation.

Change Default to Edit Default

Paste choice into pick-list

Is it possible to make a “select” field that allows you to paste an existing entry that it can then “find” in the list instead of having to scroll down the whole list to find it. I know you can start typing the first letters, but in the case of our Intake ID’s it’s very hard because they look like this;

And we can only type in the first two letters then we have to scroll through the entire list of “FL’s”

If you look at how Dabble works, you can actually paste (or type) the Intake ID and you don’t have to scroll down the entire list. When you go to add a foster home, you can paste in the Intake ID like this:

This is a huge time-saver, and something everyone loved about Dabble. Any chance MTH can be enhanced to work like this? Thank you for considering this enhancement to a great product!

I’ve realized that it’s currently not possible to have Total Value for Formula field (column).

It will be very useful and in combination with Formula field itself will allow to work out grand totals of the whole table.

Many databases have a Field Type of an automatic sequence no. (better if it allowed a gap, e.g. automatically increment by 10 or 100 – this allows an insertion, which should be allowed, in-between existing records).

Disable a Field

I need to disable a field that came from a legacy spreadsheet. It still needs to be shown (for a while, until its replacement set of fields are populated), and, later, it will be removed, but, in the mean-time, it should be able to be changed (by anyone).

Perhaps, a “Field Rule” would suffice for this (currently, via a “Field Rule”, you can only hide or show a Field).

Insert URL Fields
