Today as a Constant for Formulas

Publication date: April 30, 2019

Dears, good morning!

I am very satisfied with the MTH. It has been very helpful to me.

But I need some help on the following:
On a form I enter a date of a day that has already passed. Ex: 20/12/2017 (data1)
In this same form I need a formula that points me how many days have passed from “date1” to the current date (ie, today). Ex: data1 – data2 (today) = 51
Remembering that the “today” date needs to be updated daily. I have tried to put “date2” as the default for today, but the calculation does not work.

When I signed the plan there was a free 2 month promotion for annual subscriptions. It seems that my account is valid for only 1 year, not including 2 months free. Can you check that?

I’m using the translator.

Thank you very much for your attention.

Wrong formula calculation

Publication date: August 9, 2018

Hi I tried to create a formula subtracting the value from two fields of 80000 and 30000 , but the result comes out as 80000 . I am not able to see any email id for contact . I dont know if you are able to support my requirements properly . Thanks

Formula: How many days between last updated date (or any given date) to today's date?

Publication date: August 13, 2018

Hi Igor,
Thank you for your answers to my earlier question.
I feel I have now learnt a lot about the logic of team and reports as well as formatting rules etc, as well as importing tables etc.
I have been glad to see that the software works really smooth and quick and there are many quite advanced options and functionalities.
I have also some ideas how to work-around some of the problems regarding emails to invited new members. I can share those ideas with you when I have tested them.

Question: How can I create a formula where i count the days since a given date?
We need to track progress of our projects and see easily how long time has gone since signing a contract for instance, or how many days left to a deadline as another example.
For that I would need to calculate the time between the dates given two date fields, where one date field would today’s date.

Can you give me some advice please?

Best regards,

Showing several columns

Publication date: August 14, 2018

Thanks for all your help.
Working on my application I run into a problem following the post “How to link forms in MHT
At the end of the note is: “In order to show several column’s data from linked table you can create Formula field and select this field in ‘Select display field’.”
I’m sorry, but how?. I can’t find that Select display field in Formula field.
Thanks again.

Scripting to cascade data from related records

Publication date: August 15, 2018

Is it possible to add scripting to cascade data from a related record to a newly entered record?

For example, can I add a customer preference to my customer table and then have that preference cascade (but be overridable) to my plate orders table?

Thank you!

Couple of quick Qs before signing up for paid plan

Publication date: August 14, 2018

Q1: Is it possible to use mathematics in forms.

So that for instance if you have a list if items with prices could you set the database to calculate totals?

Q2: Is there any way to display or embed only CERTAIN form elements on a web page

For instance, you may want just an “analysis” web page which just shows:

Client Name / Booking Name / Technical Details / Running Total So far

Is this possible

Please could you point me in the direction of some tutorials or let me know.

Great service so far!!

Reminder based on a date in the past

Publication date: August 15, 2018

I’m trying to create new reminder based on a date in the past, for example if I enter today’s date in a column then
I would need to receive an e-mail reminder after two days. I thought of creating new column with a formula which
calculates the date and I used “+” operation but the result is just the date with the number added as text and not
a new date (with today’s date plus 2 days).

Best Regards

Formula on form and in field rules

Publication date: August 16, 2018

As mentioned in an earlier email I would love to see Field Rules allow Formula fields to be included, the use of Relational Data allows a lot of information to be fed into a form before data entry takes place, this incoming data could be used in many ways to enhance whether data entry is allowed or not by the data entry form.
In the above form example I have hidden the display of Select Agent field based on whether the field contains data, the inclusion of formula fields for Field Rules would greatly enhance MTH in this regard.

Cant add this report?

I want to add a report with an equivalent of:

WHERE Ratio<0.9 AND Recorded>=Date()-3

Is this possible in MTH?

Formula Help

Publication date: August 16, 2018

I was wondering if there is a way to do this within MTH:
Table 1 – Test Result
Table 2 – Volume
Table 3 – Target Range, dose, increase

The equation:

If test result<> target range then

(((target range – test result) x increase) x dose) x volume

End if

I cant see how to do this from the worked examples in the FAQ

Merge Two Tables to Report?

Relationships didn't copied

Publication date: August 16, 2018

When I’m clonning my form relationships didn’t copied to new form. So I have to re-link all tables. It can also cause issues with Formula fields.

Numbers in formula

Publication date: August 16, 2018

Formula field bug. When adding a field that is text (single line) that contains a number to another field of the same type that is null or contains a single space the formula automatically creates a numeric result with two decimal places. This limitation makes using the formula function to be used for Postal Code (zip code) from a relational database totally useless and now makes a design of using MTH to bring in local area information from one database into another.

So, where; field 1 (text – single line – contains 9999) + field 2 (text – single line – contains null) result = 9999.00

If however the formula uses field 1 (9999) + field 2 (A) the result = 9999A

It seems that MTH is assuming a calculation rather than concatenation in the instance of where the field being added is null.

Formula fields - images and record view mode

Publication date: August 16, 2018

1. I created a formula using an image field + null image (empty) which computes correctly.

2. In widget view this displays correctly and the image location url is correct. All good so far.

3. In record view mode the MTH dynamic link works correctly. It does so by using the img src= syntax followed by an abbreviated url, for example; img src=‘/images/data/dcPmobW7LgW4BcI8o2W7b7/c4W4hdVSjisjfBW7LSgcjZ/agent-pic.png’ – this where the field inserted was |image link|

The above is OK in a limited way.
The problem is that it does not allow the image derived from the formula to be used in any practical way as it can not be opened by the href tag because the syntax img src= is built into the output from MTH into Record View mode.

This strange because as noted above the url location of the Widget view image is correctly output and displayed.

Is it not possible to output the whole url without the img src= prefix into the Record View? This way the user can decide how they will use the url output, for example img src=‘http://www.mytaskhelper.com/images etc etc’ or indeed href= “http://www.mytaskhelper.com/images etc etc” or both together to open an image link.

I have tried using java to unstring the syntax that MTH passes to Record View mode for a dynamic link. No success.

The project I am designing uses 4 MTH relationships where each database contains images of localities and properties. For example, in data entry the user selects a relational database that contains 10 images of a property, these are then passed to the master form using a formula. All works nicely.

But when the MTH dynamic link for the field passed in displayed in Record View it comes in with the the prefix of img src rather than the real url for the image, which is correctly shown in widget view.

This means that I either have to display small images in Record View mode that can not be opened using href and therefore useless or place all images in the master form, which is defeats the object of the design.

Formula and Date Issue

Publication date: August 16, 2018

1) When adding a date field set to dd/mm/yyyy format into a formula the result always expresses as yyyy-mm-dd format – which is OK for the USA but for other countries is not friendly. I have tried various date formats to effect the result but always does the same.

2) When using a formula field to subtract dates, the math only works correctly if both dates are in the last half of the month.

Formula Field Date Issue

Publication date: August 16, 2018

Formula Field using Date. When including a DATE field into a formula MTH does not retain the format for date as set in the date field parameters, making the resulting data difficult to read.

Graphic into a Formula Field

Publication date: August 16, 2018

When a graphic is brought into a formula field it loses the ability to use as a link to the Record View module, which forces me to use a final “more” graphic to achieve the same purpose. A minor irritation but one that novice or new MTH users will find frustrating.

Images in Formula Field Relational Database

Publication date: August 16, 2018

A minor glitch that you should be aware of;

1. Where a RELATIONAL database has been created that features IMAGE fields the FORMULA field does not display an image that exists in another form/database.

2. I have tried various routines and the best result I can get is the file name of the related database image field but not the image itself. I created a null field and then added the field for the relationship that points to an image field, this in the normal way that I have tested and works if an image is within the same database. No matter how I tried I can not bring in the image.

3. This means that an image placed in say a database of sales persons for a specific person can not be related to a database of sales by that sales person.

It appears as though the URL for an image field from a related database is not being copied into the string for a formula field. I am able to show the file name in my test example and have exhausted the list of possible other permutations before sending in this bug report. On each pass of my testing I have checked that the truncation value of the formula field has space available to accept the URL.

Formula Field

Publication date: August 16, 2018

The formula insists that at least one field should be concatenated with another. Therefore to use a formula result it is necessary to use a field that is null and then add to the field desired to be shown.

Multiple Issues with Formula Field

Publication date: August 16, 2018

- When a formula is created from text fields the result truncates at around 45 chars. This is far too little and results in misleading data. Other text field types have a parameter to change the truncation value, this really should be added to a formula field.

- The result of a formula assume that it is a math calculation and justifies the widget view right, if a numeric value this is correct. However, if the formula field is a text value then justification should be left. Trying to adjust column widths in a widget when text is right justified is a real pain and the result looks poor. In some instances I have been forced to use all fields as formulas in a widget view just to get some uniformity.

- Allows an Image field to be included in the formula but does not display the image. This is very limiting if using the Relationships feature of MTH as users are forced to upload images multiple times if the image is used in multiple forms.

- The formula insists that at least one field should be concatenated with another. Therefore to use a formula result it is necessary to use a field that is null and then add to the field desired to be shown.

Add formatting to Formula fields

Publication date: August 20, 2018

For example, I want to create an Address Formula, but the standard address format would be “[Street Address] + \n + [City] + “, “ + [State] + “ “ + [Zip Code]” but I only have the option of a generic concatenation of the four fields.

This article suggests this should be done but doesn’t elaborate on how it could be formatted:

Square root for Formula

Formula Field Record View URL

Publication date: August 20, 2018

Formula field control options. While MTH provides an exceptional facility to include graphic images in a formula, which is a superb feature, it would be even better if the formula field options also included the ability to enable links to either the Record View widget or a specified url field – in the same way as provided for an Image field.

Default Setting for Relationships

Publication date: August 20, 2018

Do you have plans to provide a default setting for the RELATIONSHIPS drop down field that MTH inserts into a form that uses the module? While the relational program has immense potential it is difficult to predict the data entry results of any formula that uses a relational field if the default value is null. If the relational drop down had same control options of a standard drop down field I am sure this would suffice and greatly enhance the attraction of the feature.

Will it be possible to add Aligning setting for the Formula field as it looks NOT nice at all if the result of formula (numeric) is aligned left for example.

Many thanks

Total for formula Field

Publication date: August 20, 2018

I’ve realized that it’s currently not possible to have Total Value for Formula field (column).

It will be very useful and in combination with Formula field itself will allow to work out grand totals of the whole table.

Thank you

Total of the Column calculation automated

Publication date: August 20, 2018

Dear Andrew and Igor

It is great to discover that you are actually responding to suggestions and trying to do your best to suit customers needs.

One more feature that is missing for me.

You have an option to find out the Total of the numeric columns, which is great. But you have to press it manually (and also total can not be found in Formula column).

What is missing for me is to have the Total added automatically at the BOTTOM of specified column (and ideally with the word “Totals:” at the bottom of the first text type column for example), just like in MS Access.

And if you also add a feature to do at least single calculation between columns as well (say Total column 1 – Total column 2) and placing it below Totals as “Grand Total”, then the system will be outstanding of all other ones for sure.

Best regards,
