form with a search button

Publication date: August 15, 2018

Does MTH have the capability to create a form with a search button that makes a results page appear when search button is clicked?

In other words, would the example below be possible?

Could I upload an excel file of family names and addresses. Then make a form that has a text field and a button. The text field is for the user to type in a family name. The button is a search button. Once the button is clicked, a results page appears with family name and address (from the excel spreadsheet) that match the users input.

Thank you for any feedback!

Resize images

Publication date: August 15, 2018

Hello. When uploading an image, there is an option for “default image size” but if the specified size is smaller than the actual picture size, it would only show a portion of the picture.

Is it possible to resize the image so that it will show full image but resized to the desired dimensions?

Thanks for your help!

Image field type options

Publication date: August 15, 2018

Image feild options:

- You can set a file size limit for an upload;

- You can select file types from a list of file extensions you would like to allow for upload;

- Url options (when you click on an image):

                  – Open a Full size Image in a new window;

                  – Open the Record Widget;

                  – Do nothing;

                  – Open URL located in the URL field (single line field type with URL validation required);

  •                         new window or tab;

  •                         the same frame as it was clicked;

  •                         the parent frameset;

  •                         the full body of the window;

- Default Image size (width, height).

How to disable Flash file or image uploading

Publication date: September 17, 2018

If you have any issues submitting files or images from your forms you always can disable them.
Please, go to the Widget Builder, Form Widget Settings and use the ‘Disable Flash’ option at the bottom on the right side.

Also, please, see the screenshot below.

How to disable Flash file uploading

Hope it helps!

P.S. We’ve added Flash file uploading as per many users’ requests. As you probably know QuintaDB.com is a great way to store your music, files or video online, for Free. So many people upload really big files and they should see the progress bar, to see to what extent their file will be uploaded.
So, if you do not need big files uploading it really makes sense to just go to the form widget settings and disable flash file uploading.

Image fields & formula option

Publication date: August 17, 2018

Hello Kari,

SUGGESTION: When creating an application that uses IMAGES, MTH requires the image file display dimensions to be specified as one size only. While this is not wrong it creates a limitation when the same images are to be viewed in widgets of varying sizes. For example, where a widget is sized to fit within a smaller iframe for a mobile device.

This limitation creates the need to have multiple versions of the same image uploaded as large, medium and small display size, making data entry cumbersome and time consuming.

I SUGGEST that the problem is resolved in the FORMULA function by adding the dimensions of the formula result if it is an image. For example; a formula may be; image_field1 + null_field = image_field1_formula as a result and where this can be set by program parameters to a specified display dimension.

Kind regards,

Mobile applications

I am currently planning a couple of large projects with clients and trying to decide on a primary mobile form application. Do you have any idea when you might roll out mobile apps and do you plan to include integrated audio and photo capture/upload? Many thanks, Russell

Upload File Field Appearance

Publication date: August 20, 2018

I was recently updating design of some of my tables and came across “file upload” field which is very useful. However, may I give a suggestion.

If you look at the database (that is aligned left) that contains “file upload” field type, once file uploaded, when you come back to the record in Edit mode the record looks bulky and ugly (sorry :) ), also takes lots of space !

Ideally the record should show up all in one line and also: a) have a space between file name and “delete” link (at the moment it looks like one link and confuses everyone); b) removed reminder of maximum file size (as an option maybe, since frequent users know it anyway and it also takes space) c) “Browse” button a bit smaller ideally d) ideally target to be selectable for when you press file link (at the moment it opens in the same frame, which is not convenient. ideally – new window)

Could something be done about it ?

Upload image error

Publication date: August 20, 2018

Hi Igor,

I’m facing a problem I’m not sure why. I have several forms with Image upload and they work fine.

I created a new form and used Image field and try to upload different JPG’s but getting the attached error “File type not allowed”.

All other forms are working perfectly, only 2 forms newly created not accepting upload.

Any ideas? Thanks.
