Verbal warning issued - while conducting a routine inspection of the Florida Kennel Compound, a security guard alerted investigators to a complaint she received from a kennel helper that she had witnessed Michelle Weaver (VP of the adoption group) injure a greyhound named "Sweat Red Jodie" in the kennel on 11/3/09; investigators then spoke with two kennel helpers that day about the incident and were told that the greyhound was injured accidentally when Weaver was removing the dog from its crate - the door latch scraped against the dog's left hind leg causing a large laceration; the wounds appeared to be healing so investigator issued a warning to Sweeney that any future incidents of this nature would be considered animal cruelty by the Division |
