DESCRIPTION/NOTES Originally fined $1000 and license suspended for 60 days with the recommendation that his license be revoked for failing to properly maintain JO EZ Greyhound Farm; Bayus did not appear at the Director's hearing; testimony included information showing that on 11/28/09, ADOR received information from another licensee that several greyhounds on Bayus' breeding farm were in poor physical condition; later that day, investigators arrived at the breeding farm and observed animal feces throughout the area which looked to have been there for several days or more; there were several greyhounds located in the dog run areas and all were in poor physical condition, appearing to weigh between 15 and 20 pounds; there was one dead greyhound lying on the ground that appeared to have been dead for several days based on the rate of decomposition; other greyhounds were found in grave physical condition including one that had a large laceration to the left front leg and one that was physical weak and immobile - due to the serious condition of both of these dogs, they had to later be euthanized by Pinal Animal Control; the Pinal County Sheriff's office and Animal Control were both contacted and arrived on the scene - Bayus may face animal cruelty charges - either civil or criminal; Bayus told investigators and authorities that he had a total of 30 greyhounds on the property and that he was trying to place all 30 with adoption groups; arrangements were made with GPA to take 15 greyhounds and Arizona Greyhound Adoption took 12 of the dogs; Director found that there is no acceptable explanation for the circumstances that led up to the death of these greyhounds so Bayus' license was revoked and he is declared "undesirable" by ADOR.
