Investigation was opened because the Pensacola Track Vet (Hillman) died unexpectedly on 4/16/09. Therefore, there was a question as to whether or not Pensacola had a track vet on duty during the 4/17/09 program. During a routine facility visit, the investigator was unable to determine at that time whether or not a vet was present on the 17th, and the complaint was opened. After checking with the Presiding Judge, the investigator learned that retired track vet John Webb had been on duty on the 17th to replace Hillman. Investigator confirmed with Webb and track payroll office that Webb was rehired on the 17th and that he worked the performances on that date. Case closed without further action. |
