Capturing IP addresses on form submission

About privacy policy

Web forms in your QuintaDB application can record public IP addresses from which users add their entries. You can enable the "Capture IP address" option in the Form Widget menu - Security tab. User IP addresses will be saved when the form is filled out only if you have enabled the "Capture IP address" option. By default, this option is not activated.

In accordance with international data confidentiality recommendations and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we recommend informing your users clearly about the purpose of collecting their IP address and how this data will be used and processed. According to GDPR, IP addresses are considered personal data, i.e. associated with a specific individual. Data subjects (your users) have the right to be informed about the purpose of collecting their personal data and how it will be stored and processed.

To inform your users about the purpose of capturing their IP addresses and to obtain their consent, you can add the HTML, and JavaScript code field in the form containing an explanation or a mandatory Confirmation checkbox (the user gives consent for the processing of their data).

When a user adds a record through your form with the "Capture IP address" option enabled, QuintaDB saves the IP address in the system column. To include this field in the table, use the Columns menu.
